We are working on nonfiction. We’ll focus on identifying and defining text features and organizational patterns, finding the author’s purpose, and summarizing articles.
Social Studies
Students will work on their businesses. They will create their slogan and then work on their poster for advertisement. They may also bring in any supplies from home that they are using. They will be given some time in class to work on their businesses. We will open “Third Grade Mart” the week of May 15th. Students will use their checkbooks to buy materials, purchase their “real estate” , and pay employees.
The week of May 8th, we will begin learning about Rural, Urban and Suburban communities. They will have a project due MAY 30th for this unit. They will need a poster board. Students will write about which community they would prefer. The Directions will be hand out at the end of the week of May 8th. The project will be due May 31st.
Fourth Grade Math
Our measurement test will be Wednesday. Your child received a study guide last Thursday. We will then move on to our final unit on graphing. Students will review bar, line, and circle graphs. They will also be introduced to stem and leaf plots.
