Dear St. John’s Parish Day School Community,
It is with great enthusiasm and a joyful heart that I accept the invitation to join the St. John’s community as your next Head of School. I eagerly anticipate getting to know each and every one of you and becoming a part of your daily lives by working closely and collaboratively with Church and School constituents to contribute to the next chapter of the SJPDS legacy.
I am grateful to the many individuals (particularly students) who welcomed me to the beautiful St. John’s campus during the search process with gracious hospitality and open arms. The dedicated participation in and commitment to the search process by members of the Search Committee, Board of Trustees, Clergy, administrators, faculty, staff, parents, and students has been exceptionally impressive. Upon departing SJPDS after two gloriously active days, I feel inspired by St. John’s Church and School traditions, as well as encouraged to guide the development of all that is exceptional and special about this place!
Our mission is to educate a culturally diverse community of children with a stimulating and challenging curriculum in a safe and nurturing environment. We foster spiritual grounding in the Episcopal tradition with respect for the dignity and beliefs of everyone. We give our students a foundation to use their individual gifts, encourage them to rise to their full potential, and give them the tools to grow as strong independent thinkers, people of sound character, and active stewards of the world.
I confidently look forward to living into St.John’s Mission by sharing the joys and meeting the challenges of our future, knowing that we will work collaboratively to continue to create and maintain an exceptional educational environment for children and adults alike. The seriousness of purpose that prioritizes the needs of children, the enthusiastic work and play observed, and the deep love for the Church and School communities that pervades the campus assure our success in the years ahead! I want to sincerely thank our Rector, Ann Ritonia, the Search Committee and Chair, Chenwei Gillis, and the Board of Trustees and President, Kathy Carter, for working closely with me and for selecting me for this position; it is with great respect for the School’s traditions and high expectations for our future that I embrace this opportunity to serve SJPDS.
Grateful for God’s blessings,
Lori Dembo, MEd
