On Monday, April 1st, Patrick Munguti, the Education and Technology Director for Kenya Connect, joined us. He met with several classes throughout the day and shared his experiences with the students, including his fear of his first airplane ride and his amazement that everyone drives cars. The threes and fours classes taught Patrick several songs and learned about the climate and animals found in Kenya. The Lower School students were humbled to hear that their pen pals walk 30 min to an hour to get to school everyday. What’s even more amazing is that they often run to school because they are so excited to learn new concepts and ideas! Patrick shared information that will help enhance our communication with our pen pals as well as their appreciation for all we have done for our sister schools in Kenya. In chapel, Patrick presented our three highest money raisers, Kirsten Braddy ($251), Evelyn James ($245), and Quinn Carson ($195), from the Walk for Wamunyu with specially carved animals of their choice. Even Mrs. Cramer received a carving of her Kamba name as a thank you for all her hard work over the years. It was a special day, and we are so grateful for this unique partnership we share with Kenya Connect!
