We are always busy and having fun at St. John's Parish Day School!

Our daily classroom activities include counting, singing, movement, drawing, writing, and a fair amount of silliness too!   I love this class!

 

Through the winter and into the Spring we will continue to work on letter and number formation.  We will continue to learn letters that include curves and we will also begin to learn letters that "like to go swimming" because the lower case version dips below the line, e.g. Q q, G g, J j. 

 

We have learned to form all numbers 0-9.  We will continue to work on number formation and the associated counts beginning with 10 and progressing through 20. 

 

 

In the month of January we will begin to use our initials for morning check-in and in February begin to learn phone numbers.

 

Tummy time will continue to be included in our circle time along with the our regular classroom movement which includes jumping jacks, frankensteins, the banana dance and the hokey pokey.  We work on strengthening our core and upper body in a fun and silly way by pretending we are superwoman (man) or swimming on the carpet.  A strong core and upper body will help the children with many life skills including dressing and writing.  I am looking forward to using our cool fort building kit that we received for Christmas

and sharing some pictures of our creations.

** Due to the fact that I will be out of town on Friday, January 18, I am holding conferences on Tuesday, January 15 in the morning and Wednesday, January 16 in the afternoon.
