New SJPDS Mural

We are so delighted to present our beautiful new mural that is now on permanent display in our Upper Commons. Funded by SJPDS and the Howard County Arts Council, the project began in March 2020 but was put on hold due to the pandemic. Now, a little over a year later, it is complete! The mural was created by our students and staff under the direction of MD Artist Kristin Helberg (pictured on the right) with support from Mrs. Rose retired SJPDS Art Teacher (pictured on the left). The tryptic mural depicts a large vernal garden surrounded by insects, trees, flowers, small woodland creatures, a birdbath, and a beekeeper's box. We are so proud of the fantastic job well done by all participants! We extend a special thank you to the Howard County Arts Council for the Artist in Residence Grant and to the SJPDS staff members who worked tirelessly to obtain this Green School initiative opportunity for SJPDS. Go Bears!
