At Professional Development on Wednesday, March 17, SJPDS faculty and staff revisited the SJPDS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and discussed ways to continue to practice and improve upon DEI in the classroom and within our community. In small groups, they identified things that all members have in common and then each member shared something unique about themselves that is unlike anyone else in the group. This activity not only improved the connection amongst our faculty and staff but also allowed us to practice active listening and celebrate our uniqueness. This purposeful afternoon also allowed us to actively reinforce our important DEI initiatives. The Professional Development day culminated with the faculty working on curriculum planning and evaluation, as well as some time to prep.
