Welcome our New Faculty Members!

Mr. Sean McDonald has joined our fantastic Kindergarten team! Mr. McDonald has 16 years in independent school experience most recently as the Kindergarten teacher for Naval Academy Primary School in Annapolis, MD. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Westminster College and a Master of Arts Degree in Psychology from Kaplan University. Mr. McDonald’s educational philosophy strongly aligns with our mission to educate the whole child and creating educational environments that are joyful and child-centered. He is well versed in student assessments, academic troubleshooting, virtual/technology-based lesson planning, and human nature. 
 
Ms. Marie Machin has joined our fantastic Specialist team as our new Lower School Art Teacher! Ms. Machin is very passionate about visual arts and teaching children from a variety of backgrounds with rich and diverse lessons that keep students engaged and enjoying themselves while creating art. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and is experienced with a wide array of mediums including drawing, painting, sculpture, 2-D design, and general printmaking. In her previous role as a Middle School Photography educator, she developed the school's first photo curriculum for their Performing and Visual Arts Program. Ms. Machin looks forward to helping the children develop a relationship with the arts that can serve them into their futures!
 
Profesor Manuel Caceres has joined our fantastic Specialist team as our new Spanish Teacher! Profesor Caceres comes to us from a Spanish Immersion School in Baltimore and has extensive experience teaching Spanish. He is a native of El Salvador, Central America, and was educated in Christian schools during his primary through high school education. He graduated with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education and has taught in both public and private schools. His degree was a basis for later study in Education at the Pan-American University where he also studied Theology. In his words: "I love to teach and educate children since they are the future of our country. I strongly believe in a can-do attitude. I am committed to doing my best to achieve the goals of St. John Parish Day School, our parents, and our students."
