Spirit Week (Jan 27th-31st)

What
Spirit Week (Jan 27th-31st)
When
1/31/2020

During Spirit Week, we celebrate the Five Gifts of St. John’s that are symbolized on our school logo and partnership with Kenya. To kick off the week we will have an All-School-Gathering with the students to remind them of these gifts. Each day of the week students may wear the school spirit color of the day or school spirit wear purchased through the Parents’ Association. Lower School students can wear P.E. bottoms.

Monday/Green: The leaf symbolizes, “wonder and possibility; where opportunities for discovery abound.”

Tuesday/Red: The heart symbolizes “a loving, caring, supportive environment where childhood is preserved and celebrated.”

Wednesday/White: The cross symbolizes “the development of confident, independent thinkers, people of character, and respectful citizens connected to our local and global communities.”

Thursday/Brown: The acorn symbolizes “innovative curriculum and teachers who know and serve each student as they grow academically, socially and spiritually.”

Friday/Yellow or Blue (to support Kenya): The flame symbolizes “spiritual growth through faith formation grounded in the Christian tradition.”

We will culminate the week with our Walk for Wamunyu organized by Tami Cramer and Katie Ficca. Our students will run/walk to raise money for SJPDS Pen Pals living in Wamunyu, Kenya. This fundraiser will also help enhance Kenya Connect’s (KC) literacy program and enrichment camps. Parents are encouraged to sign up to help our students keep track of their laps. See https://www.stjohnspds.org/apps/pages/walkforwamunyu for more information on pledges and volunteering. Go Bears!
