Summer Reading and Activity Journals

printemail

Two awesome things you can do during the summer that will not only help you keep sharp for the upcoming school year but also for relaxation, are to read and to keep a journal.   Maintain the great strides you made during the school year and keep reading and writing while having summer fun!

Attached you will find:

  • Required Reading and Suggested Activities Grades 2 & 3.
  • Required Reading and Suggested Activities Grades 4 & 5.

Students who are entering Kindergarten or 1st Grade in the Fall 2011 do not have "required" summer reading.

At our Moving Up Chapel this year, our students received a summer homework assignment from Mr. Harrison, our Headmaster.  This homework reflects our beliefs about child development
perfectly. Too often in today’s world our lives are fully scheduled and we run
from activity to activity. Know that by having time to free play, to just be
with your family, and letting your mind wander in the clouds, you are helping
prepare your children for the next school year.  Mr. Harrison’s Homework:

1)    Look at a friend upside down

2)    Stare at the clouds for 5 minutes

3)    Run in the rain

4)    Take off your shoes and socks and walk in the mud

5)    Thank your parents and teachers

6)    Read, read, read!
