Gil joined the Parish Day School Board in September 2010.  Gil and his wife, Faith, have been actively involved at St. John's Episcopal church since the day of their marriage here in 1995.  Gil has served on muliple committees for the St. John's church including, youth leader, mission trip leader, Habitat for Humanity House leader,  Christmas in April House Captain,        Buildings and Grounds member, Architechtural Committee for expansion planning, Building committee during expansion, Men's Club, Outreach Commission, and Jamaica Mission trip. Gil and his wife Faith have two children who both attended the Parish Day School, Early Childhood program

Upon graduating from UMBC in 1994, Gil started Gawthrop Construction, Inc.  Gawthrop Construction specializes in quality custom residential renovations.  They also operate in the commercial masonry market serving religious, hospitality, retail and office construction.  Gil has served as mentor/employer for many St. John’s youth who have used that experience to strengthen their work habits and broadened their horizons.

The buildings and grounds of St. John’s are of special value to Gil as he has had the privilege of renovating Rosehill and The Clark House.  Working on the Archetectural committee was spent with a stellar group of people sharing the same fundamental values, trying to blend the need for significant new space while minimizing the impact on the unique beauty of our campus. Gil is also an active member of the Ellicott City Rotary, serving as President and past President and Secretary, Chair of the Annual Crab Feast and, Co-Chair of Hand to Hand for Haiti Fundraiser this year.
