News from the PA!

PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION GENERAL MEETING: Please save the date for our Parents’ Association General Meeting to be held on Thursday, November 19 at 7:00 pm.

SYMPHONY OF LIGHTS:  Save the Date!  Our second annual walk through the festive Symphony of Lights will be held on Friday, December 11 from 4:30 to 5:45.  More information on how to participate is coming soon.  Please contact Sue Holinsky at theholinskys@comcast.net or Karen Clark at kccphoto@gmail.com  for more information.  

TEACHER APPRECIATION:  Now that we are in the full swing of a great new school year we thought it would be nice to show our teachers how much they mean to us and our children.  Kristen Conord and Pam Warburton, our Staff Hospitality Chairs, thought of a great way to remind them each month!  Families will have the opportunity to participate in preparing a special meal for the teachers.  Kristen and Pam will provide ideas, direction and a sign-up sheet for each month as well as set-up and clean-up help and the Grade Level Reps will coordinate the donations, families will provide the food.  The items do not have to be home-made or extravagant; we just want to make our teachers feel special.  Early Childhood classes and Lower School grades will be paired up and assigned a month so that each family would have an opportunity to participate at least once during the year. We are going to kick off this program with a lunch for the teachers for the 1st day of conferences.  Look for information from your Grade Level Reps and Room Parents as your class’ date approaches.   The tentative schedule is listed below:

November 23, 2009 – 2nd grade and 3 year old classes

December – Staff Luncheon (sponsored by the Parents’ Association)

January – 1st grade and TK

February – 4th and 5th grades and PM 4s

March – Kindergarten and Full-Day 4s

April – 3rd grade and AM 4s

May – Parents Association Officers and Committee Chairs

JUICE BAG COLLECTION BINS:  Please deposit your empty juice pouches (Capri Sun, Honest Kids and Kool-Aid pouches) in the Neon-Orange recycling bins located in the main foyer, cafeteria, and 2nd floor commons.  For more information, please visit www.terracycle.net or contact Amy Paulino at leetle1ames@yahoo.com.   Many thanks to Mrs. Appelbaum and her 4th grade class who will be taking on the collection management of this program for the Parents’ Association!

VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH PARKING: Please remember to honor their hard work of our Volunteer of the Month prize winner by leaving the space open for the winner weekdays from 8:00 am – 5:30 pm.  Sign in when you volunteer at the Front Office to be eligible for the drawing.
