St. John’s Go Back

Headmaster's November Book Selection

Best Friends, Worst Enemies by Michael Thompson, 2002.  ISBN:0-345-44289-X

Michael Thompson, PhD, a noted child psychologist and independent school consultant, has previously written books about the social lives of boys, but in this volume he addresses the overall relational life of all children, incorporating his own experiences as a parent.  The result is a highly readable and extremely helpful account of "friendship, popularity, and social cruelty" in the lives of children.  If your children do not experience any social difficulties, this book is not for you, but if youre like the vast host of families where children struggle a bit with relationships, this is a "must read."
