The St. John’s Mission

We educate children with a stimulating and challenging academic curriculum in a culturally and economically diverse community.  We create a safe and nurturing environment for students to grow and to learn, helping them to utilize their full potential and individual gifts.  We provide an atmosphere that fosters spiritual grounding in the Christian tradition with respect for the dignity and beliefs of every human being.  We promote the concepts of responsible global citizenship and active stewardship for the natural world.

Our Approach

At St. John’s Parish Day School, we provide knowledge and values for a lifetime!  Our children learn in a safe and nurturing environment that is academically rigorous and provides hands-on learning. Our Early Childhood and Lower School programs provide the foundation necessary to thrive and excel in an ever changing and complex world. At St. John’s, a characteristic facet of being an Episcopal School is our dedication to providing a very high-quality, well-rounded academic program while fostering the unique spiritual development of each child, honoring his or her own faith tradition. We see each child as a complete and unique individual, and we hold the solemn responsibility of guiding each of our children through day-to-day learning experiences that will help them develop into men and women of honor, with high moral character, and compassion for their world. Our highly capable teachers and specialists work together to create a comprehensive and exciting program focused on educating the whole child: mind, body, and spirit.

SJPDS Annual Report to SJEC Parish May 6, 2010

In scripture, St. John’s third letter essentially begins, “Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in health; I know that it is well with your soul.”  This same sentiment has been the guiding light of the relationship between St. John’s PDS and St. John’s Church this year.  The reciprocal sense of gratitude, of a mutual wish for the well-being of both communities, has permeated all that we have accomplished together – it has been an omnipresent “GPS system” for us, keeping us on a journey together toward ever-increasing cooperation and communion.
